TCA’s Safety & Security Division to Hold Annual Meeting in St. Louis, Missouri, May 18-20, 2014
Workshops and seminars will focus on the safety concerns of truckload companies
From May 18-20, 2014, the Truckload Carriers Association’s (TCA) Safety & Security Division will hold its annual meeting at The Hyatt Regency St. Louis at the Arch in St. Louis, Missouri. This highly rated event brings together truckload carrier managers and supervisors responsible for their companies’ safety and security programs to discuss problems, share ideas, and seek solutions unique to their specialized area of operations.
A “mock trial” will be a highlight of this year’s event. Attendees will get a glimpse into the courtroom and see how CSA, maintenance, hours of service, and other issues play a role in decisions that involve trucking companies.
A general session, led by Steve Keppler, executive director of the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance, and Lt. Kevin Kelly, a Missouri Highway Patrol officer, will focus on the insights that the enforcement industry has into rectifying roadside problems, whether at an inspection station or a traffic stop.
The highly popular “Safety in the Round” sessions will draw from the knowledge of the group to solve common safety-management and human-resource problems. Topics will include workers’ compensation issues, employee/employer communication, improving driver-hiring procedures, and others. In addition, attendees will have plenty of time to network while also enjoying an exhibit hall, first-timers’ orientation, receptions, and several meals together.
Recordings of the educational sessions held at the 2014 Safety & Security Division Annual Meeting will be posted to Truckload Academy On-demand, TCA’s virtual training and education platform (www.truckload.org/TAO). Here, TCA members and others can get one year of 24/7 access to audio synchronized PowerPoint presentations, downloadable copies of the speakers’ slides and handouts, and the option to download the recordings as MP3s for learning on the go.
Individuals who are interested in attending the meeting can register on-site at the same rates as those who already pre-registered.
