Professional Truck Driver Helps Rollover Victims
Scott Parry of Marion, North Carolina, earns Highway Angel wingsAlexandria, Virginia:
The Truckload Carriers Association (TCA) is pleased to name professional truck driver Scott Parry of Marion, North Carolina, as a Highway Angel.
On the afternoon of January 8, 2014, Parry was driving along I-540 near Rudy, Arkansas, when he came to the top of a hill. Looking down in front of him, he saw several vehicles sliding on the icy road surface. When an SUV rolled over, he stopped and went to help the occupants.
Inside he found a woman, her brother, and her father, who suffers from heart problems. First Parry helped them get out of their vehicle, and then took them to his warm truck since it was extremely cold outside. The father was having chest pains, so Parry made sure he used his nebulizer, took his pills, and got his breath back.
In addition, Parry treated the brother’s cut with antibiotic ointment and a band-aid and took in another woman whose car had slid into the median. Parry waited with all of them for over two hours until an ambulance arrived. The woman later wrote about Parry’s kindness, saying, “There are not many drivers out there who would sit that long and wait with folks. I would like to thank [you] for [your] caring and compassion and patience. [You] are a very good person.”
As TCA’s latest Highway Angel, Parry has been presented with a certificate, patch, and lapel pin.
