3/28/2017

The Whistlin' Dixie Jamboree featured country-western themed attire, live and silent auctions, and a performance by the Bellamy Brothers

Nashville, Tennessee:

Attendees of the Truckload Carriers Association’s (TCA) Annual Convention at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center “let their love flow” at the fourth annual Scholarship Fund Gala, which raised $221,875 to fund future scholarships named after past TCA chairmen and support trucking families’ dreams of a higher education.

Thanks to the generosity of hosts Freightliner Trucks and Pilot Flying J, 100% of the evening’s proceeds went directly to the Scholarship Fund.

At the gala, TCA members wore cowboy boots and bolo ties while eating a three-course meal, placed bids on silent and live auction items, learned how to two-step with local Nashville dancers, and then put their new moves to the test during a performance by country music legends The Bellamy Brothers.

Jon Russell, chairman of the TCA Scholarship Fund and the President of Celadon Group, Inc. of Indianapolis, Indiana, said of the event, “It was quite an enjoyable night. Everyone was on their feet dancing and donating.”

The live auction items included a pair of diamond earrings, a diamond ring, a pink tourmaline jewelry set, a meet and greet with Sugar Ray Leonard, Roberto Duran, and Tommy Hearns, a trip to the 2017 Transportation Executive Summit, and an entertainment package that includes both a trip to an HBO boxing match and a trip to New York to see the 32nd annual Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. Silent auction items included trips all around the country, a one-of-a-kind TCA humidor, artwork, and electronics.

The 2017-18 scholarship application process will begin April 2017.
