For Third Year, Truckload Carriers Association and Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund Partner to Bring “The Wall That Heals” to Communities Across America
In 2015, Truckload Carriers Association (TCA) carrier members began hauling “The Wall That Heals,” a 250-foot replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial to communities throughout the United States. TCA and the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund (VVMF) are proud to announce their partnership will continue in 2018.
The Vietnam Veterans Memorial is one of the most visited memorials in our nation’s capital, with more than 5.6 million visitors each year. However, many Americans have not been able to visit what has become known to many as “The Wall.” Since 1996, bringing The Wall home to towns across the U.S. has provided thousands of veterans who have been unable to experience The Wall in Washington, D.C. an opportunity to do so within their own communities.
TCA encourages its member companies to support the effort; those interested in transporting The Wall That Heals can visit www.vvmf.org/haul-the-wall for more information. The full 2018 tour schedule was announced in mid-December; carriers can choose routes beginning January 15, 2018.
“One of the most rewarding parts of every stop is to see heartfelt appreciation expressed by our hosts and escort riders who haul The Wall That Heals,” said VVMF Director of Outreach, Tim Tetz. “It’s unlike any load they’ve ever driven, as it is an opportunity to both recognize a driver and show support for our nation’s heroes.”
Thanks to the following TCA carrier members, more than 250,000 people were able to visit The Wall That Heals in 2017:
