As a child, I was always interested in big trucks. I graduated high school and went on to college. After a couple of years of struggle, I quit school and started to work in the field of retail management. I bounced from job to job for about twelve years when I decided to go back to one of my childhood loves, big trucks. I went to a truck driving school in 1994 to learn to obtain my CDL and become a truck driver. I spent the next ten years learning everything I could about being a driver. After ten years of driving, I started getting the urge to learn more about the trucking industry, so I started applying for dispatcher positions. I felt this would give me the opportunity to share what I learned, and provide me with an opportunity to learn more. I also started to look at completing the degree I had started 25 years previously, so that I could learn to be an effective leader in the trucking industry. Kinard Trucking gave me my first opportunity to advance. They have continued to provide me with opportunities to learn and grow. Kinard has provided me the opportunity to advance with four promotions in the past five years. Working in the trucking industry has shown me just how important the trucking industry is to our nation and the world. I want to take what I am learning in college and use it to help my company and the industry to become more safe and efficient. The trucking industry has provided me with a wealth of opportunities and knowledge I will never be able to completely pay back. |
