Hard working.  This is the first thing that comes to mind when I consider what my association with the trucking industry has shown me.  I have watched as the quality was consistently modeled by my father as I grew up.  My father has been employed by Brubacher Excavating Inc, driving a lowboy to haul equipment from jobsite to jobsite for over 25 years.  Watching my father at work when I rode with him on Saturday mornings as a youngster fostered an appreciation for the frequent early morning starts and the long hours he spends behind the wheel to provide for our family.  I witnessed how this dedication to hard work helped him succeed in the trucking industry, and I have tried to apply this same principle in my own life thus far as I continue my education to prepare for a career in the field of civil engineering.  Patience is another key idea that I have learned from my association with the trucking industry.  Seeing my father handle his rig in heavy traffic and remain calm when cars cut him off and drive recklessly has taught me that no matter what, you cannot let your emotions get the best of you during a situation.  I try to follow his example in my daily life and remember to think before I act.  Looking back, my father’s association with the trucking industry played an important role in my life while I was growing up.  The examples of hard work and patience that my father exemplifies in his work will continue to assist me well into the future.
