Commercial Carrier University Publications

Commercial Carrier University, created through a partnership between the Truckload Carriers Association's Truckload Academy and Randall Trucking Media, offers a series of manuals geared toward trucking companies. Manuals may be downloaded directly by clicking on the links below or can be ordered in print format for larger quantities (click here for complete details).

How to Recruit and Retain Drivers- Do you train everyone who answers the phone about how to handle calls from prospective drivers? Do you maintain contact with good drivers who leave or turn you down? An acknowledged expert in driver recruitment and retention takes you step by step through strategies aimed at getting the drivers you want and keeping them during the critical first 30 days and beyond.

How to Evaluate Life-Cycle Costs- Discusses when and how to replace vehicles for optimum efficiency, productivity and profitability. A well thought-out replacement strategy is the basis for an efficient fleet operation and a foundation for other decisions regarding your business.

How to Write a Business Plan- Who is your business plan written for? Do you even have one? This manual explains why a trucking company of any age needs a business plan and leads you through the process of developing this critical tool. Learn how to draft a plan that would satisfy the most discriminating financial backer: an investor. Learn how to develop a strategic plan and convert it into action items. And learn to think about your business in terms of the risk of failure as well as the rewards of success.
