The trucking industry has played an integral part in my life as well as that of my family. Primarily it has been the sole financial provider for my family because my father has been in the business since I was born. Having a father in the transportation industry has taught me many things that apply to all areas of life. First without a transportation network, such as the trucking industry, the U.S. economy would fail to function. It provides a way to distribute goods and essentially fuels our capitalistic society. I have also learned how to interact with all kinds of people. I have grown up around principles such as being efficient in whatever you do and the customer is always right. I also know how to read a map and give directions better than most 20-year-old girls I know. Most of all I have learned about working hard. People in trucking are exceptionally hard working and dedicated people to doing the best job they can. It is difficult for many families when work is time consuming but hard workers are also resilient and flexible. I have led a very privileged life of have two parents and fortunately my dad’s work has allowed him to be around to always support any of my activities or life events. In conclusion in regard to impact on my family life, the conglomeration of trucking life has shaped my entire life, values, and professional abilities.
