Michael BlackstockMichael Blackstock The trucking industry has been an enormous impact on my life. My father, Mike Blackstock, has worked in the trucking industry for over 25 years in order to provide for our family. The trucking industry has allowed me to participate in extra-curricular activities both at school, and with other associations throughout my entire life. It has also provided the financial backing for my college education here at the University of Georgia. Most importantly, the trucking industry has influenced my thoughts about my future. Through working and discussing the business with my father and his associates, I have been able to learn a great deal about the industry, as well as the business environment in general. The knowledge I have acquired about the trucking industry has led me to be very interested in pursuing a career in transportation in the future. I plan to further my background in the business field during the 2009 summer by pursuing an internship with a trucking company. As a result of my interest and knowledge, I am majoring in Business Management at the University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business. My father was able to work his way through college while working in Operations and eventually obtained his M.B.A. degree. He has worked with Schilli Transportation Services for over 14 years in various positions in Operations and is currently an Account Executive. As a result, I have been exposed to many of the issues and concerns in trucking and business in general. I feel this knowledge, along with hard work in certain to give me the edge I will need in the transportation and logistics industry upon graduation. |
