“Nothing will work unless you do,” said Maya Angelou.  By watching professional drivers, especially my father, I know this is true.  These drivers are the wheels of the economy, demonstrating a dependable work ethic.  My father also displays this in his personal life.  When I was growing up, after six days on the road he would spend his day off working at home.  Whether he was remodeling the house or helping his siblings with theirs, he put his time and sweat into getting it done.  Without complaints, he took the plans and turned them into actions.  This attitude applies toward his career.  In order to help others and improve the industry image, he released rehabilitated birds into to warmer climates and works with Wal-mart, his employer, to donate money locally.  Other professional drivers emanate this behavior by preserving safety and helping others on the highway.

This approach to work has had an enormous effect on my life.  When I come across needs or wants, I don’t complain and hope for an outcome, I work towards it.  In order to pay for school, I work.  When I wanted a stronger community, I volunteered.  Each change I hope to see or obstacle I encounter, leads me to a challenge.  I learn so much from these challenges as they guide me to opportunities and valuable learning experiences.
