Trucking on the Green
2007 Chairman's Brief
July 25, 2007
"Green Can Contribute to the Bottom Line" was the topic of the first-ever TCA Chairman's Brief, delivered by Jim O'Neil, President, O&S Trucking, Inc. In this one-hour audio conference, Jim talked with Herb J. Schmidt, President, and Bruce Stockton, Vice President, Maintenance, of Contract Freighters, Inc. about how "going green" has helped the company's bottom line. The trio shared specifics on how to reduce fuel consumption, lower operating costs associated with freight delivery, and generate buy-in from drivers and the rest of the company. Rounding out the discussion and Q&A was Matt Payne of the EPA SmartWay Partnership program, who shared some the steps the industry has been taking to reduce fuel consumption and the operating costs of moving freight.
