G. Clifton Parker of G & P Trucking Co., Inc.
Continues As Truckload Carriers Association Chairman
for 2003-2004
Orlando, FL - G. Clifton Parker, president and
general manager of G & P Trucking Co., Inc., a truckload
and intermodal carrier located in Columbia, South Carolina,
has been elected to his second term as chairman of the
Truckload Carriers Association (TCA). The swearing-in
ceremony will take place on Sunday, March 9, at the
association's Annual Meeting, held March 9-12, 2003
at the Gaylord Palms Resort in Orlando, Florida.
Mr. Parker spent this past year as Chairman working
to increase and retain membership and provide more services
and benefits to TCA members. He helped increase TCA's
Truckload Academy offerings, coordinated state partnerships
for educational programs, and fine-tuned TCA's Benchmarking
20-Groups and Cost Accounting programs. Parker's goal
for the upcoming year is to give TCA members the tools
they need to survive in today's unrelenting economy.
During his ten years as a member of TCA, Mr. Parker
has served on numerous management panels and committees,
including Improving Efficiency at the Docks, Benchmarking,
and the Truckload Academy Board of Directors. He is
also active in the American Trucking Associations, Inc.
(ATA), where he serves as a vice president at large
and is a member of the safety, environmental, technology,
engineering, and intermodal policy committees. Mr. Parker
presently serves on the Transportation Policy Committee's
Business Alliance in South Carolina.
Addressing the membership on the subject of his second
term Mr. Parker said: "I am both honored and excited
about continuing my chairmanship... It is truly an honor
and I am humbled to have this opportunity. I pledge
to continue striving to meet the high standards that
this position demands."
