TCA
and Delmar Learning Release Train the Trainer
Innovative
Program Strengthens Knowledge of Truck Driver Trainers
Alexandria, Virginia – The Truckload Carriers Association (TCA) is pleased
to announce the release of the Train the Trainer product developed by Delmar
Learning and the Professional Truck Driver Institute (PTDI).
Train the Trainer is a unique product devised to assist
both trucking schools and companies with the challenge of
standardizing driver training. This exciting
new program consists of a video series, student course book, and instructor's
manual; the three products can be purchased separately or as a package. Train
the Trainer was developed as a modular system, but can be used to fit a pre-existing
program that lasts from 2 to 4 days; it is ideal for educating "finishing" trainers
at companies or instructors at driving schools.
The Train the Trainer Instructor's Guide is a resource to help prepare
instructors to teach trainers, it provides more than 40 hours of instructional
materials that address skills needed by effective trainers. The guide allows
an instructor to easily select from among the suggested exercises and materials
to design at least 16 hours of course work for trainers.
Jack Price, Lead Instructor of Truck Drive Training, Clearfield
Country Career and Technical Center, Clearfield, PA said, "I have been involved in adult
education for over 30 years. The Train-the Trainer Guide and video are one of
the best works I have seen on this subject. It is well thought out and well written,
easy to use and contains what any instructor/trainer would need. The section
on ‘Using Communication' is very effective. It provides the instructor/trainer
the opportunity to learn and practice listening, positive reinforcement, and
conflict resolution within a realistic trucking environment."
The two, thirty-minute Train the Trainer videos provide
trainers with practical demonstrations of effective teaching
techniques and motivational tips for successful
classroom instruction. The videos reinforce the concepts presented in the student
course book, which is an interactive, user –friendly reference tool. The
student course book covers curriculum development, classroom management, learning
methods, learner diversity, and presentation techniques for truck driver trainers.
Driver trainers need to be more than just good drivers,
they must master technical subjects and communication skills
to effectively teach. Train the Trainer is
the way to meet these educational challenges and develop a group of outstanding
trainers. To purchase the Train the Trainer video series, student course book,
or instructor's manual visit www.truckdriving.delmar.com or call 1-800-347-7707.
