About Truckload Carriers Association Scholarships
Duration and Amount of Scholarship
A one year scholarship from the Truckload Carriers Association
will be awarded on a per-semester basis to be automatically
renewed for the second semester upon recommendation of the
University and showing of good academic standing by the recipient.
The total amount of the scholarship will be between $1,500
to $3,000.
Method of Awarding the Scholarship
The trustees will mail the scholarship check directly to
the university for distribution. Scholarship monies are to
be used for tuition purposes only.
Eligibility
Any college junior or senior in good standing, who is the
child, grandchild, or spouse of an employee or an employee
of a trucking company, or the child, grandchild or spouse
of an independent contractor or an independent contractor
affiliated with a trucking company and attending an accredited
four-year college or university is eligible for a scholarship.
Qualifications to be Considered
The recipient of the scholarship must show financial need,
excellent scholastic achievement in the freshman and sophomore
years (minimum 3.3 cumulative GPA required), maintain
full-time student status and be an individual of high character
and integrity. Those students pursuing transportation and
business degrees will be given special consideration.
The scholarship will be awarded without regard to sex, race,
color, national origin or religion.
What Voids the Scholarship?
The scholarship will be voided on the basis of the student's
expulsion or dismissal from school or discontinuance of the
education process for more than 12 consecutive months. The
scholarship may also be voided if the student does not maintain
full-time student status or their GPA drops by more than 1
point. Also, the Trustees reserve the right to withdraw the
scholarship at their discretion.
Procedures for Awarding the Scholarship
Scholarship applications will be available in the spring
and are due in the TCA office May 20, 2005. You may
request an application through your college, company or
by

by mail and a listing of award winners will be posted on
this
website by August 5, 2005.
A potential candidate for a scholarship must:
- Send the Association a completed scholarship application
which must be typed,

- Send the Association an official complete transcript of
all college courses and grades.
- Send the Association a course schedule including tuition
and fees (if available) for the upcoming term.
- At the end of the junior year, a scholarship winner must
re-submit a complete application for the upcoming school
year to the Association should they wish to reapply for
the scholarship.
- Provide the name, address and telephone number of the
person and department within the college or university to
which the scholarship check should be sent for disbursement.
NOTE: The scholarship
will not be awarded until the initial application is received
in typed form and all required paperwork submitted, including
most recent official transcripts and a fall semester schedule,
and no incremental payments for the second trem will be
made until
the Trustees receive the summaries requested during the scholarship's
duration.
