A Retirement Message from TCA President John Lyboldt

04/01/2022

Dear Member,

In December of 2015, I sent you a letter requesting you tell me what was on your mind regarding TCA, and what you needed and wanted from your association. After receiving nearly three hundred emails, phone calls, and letters we were able to determine our direction and priorities. This membership-driven approach created the beginning of the association’s sustainability and growth. It is for these reasons that TCA has a very bright future.

Member organizations need to embrace change. As soon as you think your association is in a good place, you are already three years behind. I have often said, you need to respect the past, embrace the current, and shape the future to be successful.

I have been fortunate to have a team around me who knows what their responsibilities are, how important it is for them to achieve results to plan, and at the same time be enthusiastic about their efforts. No one on the team looks at themselves as being more important than the next. It is a collective effort for each of them to be successful. This is what has created an unrivaled membership experience.

I have also been fortunate to have had Chairmen, Officers, Board and Committee members who were willing to spend countless hours working on association business with incredible professionalism and energy. I have enjoyed bringing my life’s work to TCA, especially collaborating with people who genuinely want the association to be there for the members. Last Tuesday marked my 240th board meeting and I have now served 36 Chairman with John Elliott taking the reins. It has been a great ride with many immensely proud moments seeing people be successful and happy with their accomplishments.

It is time for me to retire and turn my energy towards spending time with Lynne and our family. We have many interests and activities which we look forward to experiencing.

I am grateful for each of you. I want to thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve you as your President. It has been an honor to represent the finest, hardworking individuals that you are without a doubt.

God Bless you and your loved ones.

Best regard,

John Lyboldt
