My mother started trucking when I was 13 years old. I thought she was crazy because at the time I haven’t heard of a woman truck driver. The new job has changed our lives for the better by providing us with better financial stability and got me to get over my fear of trucks when I started driving. I’m able to relate and understand what trucker go through with traveling all over the country. I learned to be independent and get closer to other family members while my mom would be away but she wouldn’t be forgotten. And when she does come home, it is always great because we could have a lot of stories to tell.
My mom takes care of me like any other mom but it’s a little different. She supports me on and off the road. Although my mom is driving hundreds and thousands of miles away. We have never been as close as we are today. And all thanks to trucking.
